Select Academy (U13-U19)

Launched in 2020, MLS NEXT is the most elite platform for youth player development in North America. With a commitment to innovation and providing access and representation, MLS NEXT players receive the best training and coaching as they prepare for their futures, both in soccer and in life.

Membership for the 2024-25 season includes 29 MLS academies, 122 Elite Academies (151 total clubs), 753 teams, and over 16,000 players across the U.S. and Canada.

The Girls Academy (GA) is the leading youth development platform for the best female soccer players in the United States. We are the only national youth soccer platform that represents the collective vision of member clubs and actively engages the voice of the players to take real ownership of the league. The GA embraces the desire of club members and players to maintain an unrivaled standard of excellence in coaching, competition, and regional and national showcase events throughout the year.

    What can I expect to get out of the Select Academy at Virginia Rush?  


    A year-round program where top-level players can access excellent instruction, professional coaching, and superior competition.  


    Rush Select Academy, a premier new level of programming designed to provide top-tier

    opportunities for players within our community. This elite initiative will offer high-level training and competition, with teams competing in national leagues across the country. Higher the level, greater the commitment.


    Can I play high school and MLS NEXT | GA?


    Yes. Players are allowed to play MLS Next | GA and high school, along with Middle School. We ask families to communicate with the

    Select Academy Director along with their head coach about any

    outside sports.


    Where can I expect to play and practice? What are the travel expectations for the Select Academy program?


    Virginia Rush is proud to call the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and Hampton Roads Soccer Complex (HRSC) home. 


    Games are primarily in Virginia. With the occasional travel to North Carolina.


    What is the seasonal calendar? 


    U13 to U15 Age Groups


    • Fall and Spring Seasons
    • Teams formed from Talent ID Sessions
    • 4 sessions a week w/ Futsal
    • Games on Saturdays/Sundays
    • July - December/Feb. - June

    U16 to U19 Age Groups


    • Same details as above
    • Season July - March/June
    • Professional Staff coach
    • 4 sessions a week w/ Futsal

    ● TRACE Video Film with player accounts
